From the Office of the First Lord of the Admiralty
Today, November 17, 2012 at 11:05am EDT, members of the Third Fleet of The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. from North Carolina, together with the North Carolina Near Space Society, launched a capsule into Near Space with cameras and our first Treecatonaut names Apogee. A Treecat is an arboreal six-limbed empathic cat-like animal from the Honor Harrington Series of novels by David Weber. Our Treecat was a plush.

The capsule reached an altitude of approximately 86,000 feet before beginning its descent back to Earth. It landed around 5:00pm EDT just south of Emporia, VA and was recovered shortly thereafter. Both Apogee and the capsule were retrieved, as was the camera equipment.
Shortly, there will be an announcement from The Royal Manticoran Navy informing of where Apogee will be auctioned off. Appogee will come with a disc containing the photos and film footage which was acquired during this launch. There will also be a Mission Patch and a certificate of authenticity signed by the Project Leader, Captain Senior Grade John Garhmann. All the proceeds from this auction will go to our official Charity, Florida Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, FL.
Please direct any media inquiries to the Office of the First Lord of the Admiralty.
