Welcome to The Sphinx Forestry Service, the youth program for The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. We offer a wide variety of courses in several different subjects designed for cadets and youths of various ages. The Sphinx Forestry Service's curriculum has been designed to be offered exclusively to the members of The Royal Manticoran Navy and is free of char.ge and is available through email. The Sphinx Forestry Service is constantly working to provide new subjects and areas of study for your enlightenment and entertainment.
The courses at SFC run differently than most Saganami Island courses and are broken down into three different levels. Each level is for a different age group.
Find the right level for you, based on your age, and then choose whichever course you would like to take. There is no specific order in which you have to take exams. Once you have found the correct level of exam for you, you then look at all of the courses offered and chose the one that sounds like the most fun, or interesting.
Once you have completed that course, you can choose to take another one that looks interesting. You are not required to take the exams in any order, and you are not required to start with a level one course, if you are old enough to do a level two exam.
There is flexibility in which course you take and when you take it.
About the Courses
Level one courses – ages 5-8: These courses are set up like hands on projects. You are STRONGLY encouraged to get mom and dad to help you with these. You will have to make something, whether it be to draw a picture, or build something and take pictures of your creation. The questions on these exams, may not be from Honorverse specifically, but are intended to introduce you to a topic within the Honorverse.
Level two courses - ages 9-12: These courses have questions that require short answers. Not all questions are directly related to the Honverse, however, we start to see more and more Honorverse topics introduced. Answers can be found everywhere, not just in the Honor Harrington books. It is once again, strongly encouraged to talk to your mom and dad if you have any questions or problems.
Level three courses – ages 13-16: The last level of course work, is by far, our hardest. These courses are research based projects. You are given a general topic, and you find a specific area of study, research it and how it relates to the Honorverse and the real world, and write about it.
Now that you have a better understanding of how the SFC has set up the course work, enjoy!
